SWISS INTERNATIONAL AIR LINES has appointed Christoph Franz (left) as its chief executive, replacing Andre Dose brought in from Crossair.
Franz previously managed Deutsche Bahn's passenger sales division and was a member of Lufthansa's management team between 1992 and 1994.
Continued losses, and questions raised regarding Swiss joining the Oneworld alliance means that youthful (44) Franz will need both skill and luck in order to turn Swiss into a trim and modern version of the once very successful Swissair.
