STANSTED AIRPORT has finally broken the 20m passenger barrier, an Air Berlin flight to Majorca, carrying the significant passenger , one of 115 current scheduled destinations. The airport says that its speedy growth means that the target of 25m per year, for which approval has been given, is now likely to be by 2006 rather than the initially predicted 2010. An application for a second runway is expected in 2005, not a surprise since this was suggested at the original enquiry which culminated in the building of the current terminal complex. Terry Morgan, md of Stansted, is on the left next to the lucky passenger Jane Summers and her boyfriend Marco Lombado. We are not sure how the town cryer or the clowns fit in but it was clearly an enjoyable occasion.
