SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT is to lose its popular managing director David Cumming, who retires at the end of the year. He is replaced by Chris Butler (left) currently business development director at Stansted airport, who will take over as the new MD on 1 January 2006. David became managing director in April 2002, and has led a period of rapid growth and development at the airport. During this time the airport has won a number of prestigious awards, including the European Regions Airline Association, ”Airport of the Year 2004/5” and the KPMG ”Hampshire Company of the Year”. David was with BAA plc and its predecessors, for 38 years.
