SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT continues to thrive on the competition between British Airways and FlyBe as it quickly pushes towards the one million passenger milestone. Thought likely to pull out at one point BA has reaffirmed its commitment to the airport by providing more flights on its key business routes to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester whilst at the same time withdrawing Jersey and Belfast, essentially leisure services, where it competes with the Walker Aviation owned carrier. Two 50-seat Dash 8s and two 50-seat Embraer 145 aircraft will continue to be operated from Southampton Airport by locally based flight and cabin crew. http://www.baa.com
