BREAKING NEWS is that Singapore Airlines chief executive Chew Choon has been making noises when speaking to Australian Nine Network's Business Sunday yesterday regarding airline consolidation which he said is a requirement for the future. This follows comments by Qantas boss Geoff Dixon and would seem to indicate that SIA is in the takeover move. However the Singapore investment in Air New Zealand was not a success and whist it took a 49% ”620m share in Virgin Atlantic that partnership seems to be limited to various codeshares and note sharing on the Airbus A380.
