Ireland’s Shannon airport has announced the completion of a €15 million runway resurfacing project by Lagan Asphalt Group, eight weeks ahead of schedule.
The work commenced in May and included refurbishment of 2,400 metres of runway surface, as well as replacing centre line lighting with energy-efficient LEDs. The airport says crews worked at night to avoid disruption to flight schedules.
Matthew Thomas, CEO of Shannon Group, said the airport is “one of the most important pieces of infrastructure in the south-west” and that the resurfaced runway will “serve customers for the next 25 years”.
