RYANAIR seems to have broken with its own tradition as a utility airline by announcing an intention to offer in-flight entertainment (IFE) on all its flights. The Ryanair video system will include the latest Hollywood movies, cartoons, comedy classics, sitcoms and audio cd”s. However unlike other operators Ryanair will charge ”5 per unit per sector. By using hand held machines there is no real investment. In another move the airline is to increase activities from its Skavsta base, about 65 miles south of Stockholm. The Irish carrier, who already operates eight routes from the airport, is to introduce three new destinations on 21 February: Niederrhein (55 miles from Dusseldorf), Girona (60 miles from Barcelona) and Riga, Latvia. Ryanair will increase its local fleet to four Boeing 737-800s.
