RYANAIR has yet again got itself into hot water with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) who have come down in favour of easyJet and members of the public objecting to two national press advertisements for stating that both Girona and Reus were Barcelona when clearly they are not. The ASA said that the IATA names should be the ones used. A second advertisement headlined "Why Pay More to Arrive Later” was also considered misleading, the authority noting that two sets of punctuality statistics could not be compared unless it could be shown that both sets of data were compiled with identical methodologies. It told the advertisers not to misattribute statistics in future advertisements. In many ways a fine carrier that in recent years cut through much airline bad practice, 20 plus ASA complaints over the last four years does indicate that Ryanair is a serial misleader.
