RYANAIR and easyJet do not agree on many things but with the British
airline already having formally complained to the European Commission
regarding what it considers anti-competitive behaviour by the Italian
authorities on the Milan ” Olbia (Sardinia) route, the Dublin airline
now has followed suit (see ABTN 10 April). This time the route is
from Rome (Ciampino) ” Alghero and the scenario is much the same. The
Italians say that the route should be a PSO (Public Service Obligation)
whilst the non-Italian airlines comment is that as commercial
undertakings the risk is down to them. Something else for Mr Ponti to
sort out.
