ROLLS-ROYCE has delivered its 1,000th Trent engine, marking the milestone with a handover ceremony involving its largest Trent customer, Singapore Airlines (SIA). The engine will be installed on SIA”s 60th Boeing 777. Firm and option orders have been placed for a total of more than 1,700 Trent”s of all types, giving the family a market share of 50% across the latest generation of wide-bodied jets from Airbus and Boeing. In 2005 a Trent 900 engine will power the first Airbus A380 into the air and the Trent 1000 has been the first engine selected for the Boeing 7E7. The Trent 700 is offered for the Airbus A330 (37% of all orders), Trent 800 the 777 (45% of orders) and it is the only engine powering the ultra long range Airbus A340-600 (Trent 500).
