BREAKING NEWS is a suggestion by former Belfast Lord Mayor Jim Rodgers that Belfast”s harbour airport be renamed George Best City Airport.
"The idea of changing the name of the City Airport in remembrance of George is something which, I think, would be very appropriate and a fitting tribute to him," he said.
Best, often called the fifth Beatle, passed away last Friday after succumbing to an over - indulgent lifestyle.
Many airports around the world are named in memorial, typically John Lennon (Liverpool), Charles de Gaulle (Paris) and of course JFK at New York.
Saddam International took its name from the Iraq dictator but is now back to Bagdad International, whilst the only one we can think of in honour of someone still alive is George Bush International at Houston.
