SKY COMMUTER took off last week with a race from Oxford Airport, Kidlington, to Cambridge City Airport. As reported in last week”s ABTN the airline will introduce twice daily services between the two University cities on Wednesday 1 February priced at ”49 single. As a prelude the airline organised a competition featuring a car (naturally a Lotus), public transport, rail and a nine-seat Navajo Chieftain plane. The aircraft took just 22 minutes, the Lotus Elise 2 hours 25 minutes with no hold ups at an estimated cost of ”36 (at a generous 40p per mile) and the train 2 hours 38 minutes, the fare ”43.30 (or ”53 return).
