Qatar Airways has completed its purchase of a 10 per cent shareholding in LATAM Airlines.
The Doha-based airline originally announced its intention to buy a 10 per cent stake in LATAM in July 2016.
The deal between the Oneworld partners sees an investment of more than $600 million injected into the South American airline.
“The entrance of Qatar Airways as shareholder of LATAM represents a unique opportunity to develop a long-term relationship and explore new opportunities for connectivity with Asia and the Middle East,” said LATAM in a statement.
Qatar Airways also increased its shareholding in British Airways-owner IAG to 20 per cent during the summer.
