QANTAS is to launch a new no frills domestic airline in May 2004 following the success of Virgin Blue who, in three short years, has managed to gain about 30% of the Australian domestic market. The airline, so far unbranded, is expected to have 23 aircraft by mid-2005. However since 2000 Rod Eddington”s old airline Ansett has collapsed and so has Impulse Airways, a 20 year old regional carrier with the Boeing 717 as its main aircraft.
