KUNUNURRA may not roll off your tongue as a well known place to visit from the UK, but the tropical Western Australia township (population 6,000) is to be connected to London via Singapore and Perth all next summer (our summer that is). Qantas is to commence a direct weekly service May 2004 using a BAe 146 with a flight time of nearly four hours. By road it is just over 2,000 miles. Close by is the Mirima National Park. And whilst still many miles away last week the first ever rail connection between Adelaide and Darwin, via Alice Springs, was completed. It has taken 140 years from concept! http://www.west-oz.com/Regions/Kimberley/Kununurra/kununurra.asp
