RONALD REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT has started to allow private and charter aircraft to land for the first time since the September 11 2001. However, pilots will have to be accompanied by an armed, government-approved, security officer on board. The plans allow for 48 take-offs and landings a day at the Washington airport, which compares to 122 daily takeoffs and landings in 2000.
