BOMBARDIER has come up with some preliminary details of its proposed C series aircraft outlined at Farnborough. The plan is to have an optimised aircraft that would replace obsolescent types such as the BAe 146 series, DC9 and its successors, the Fokker jets and Classic 737s. Bombardier sees a market for 5,800 aircraft over the next 20 years. At five abreast the aircraft would be wider than the Embraer 170 but not as wide as the 737 or even wider Airbus A318/319. A formal go-ahead is expected early next year with 2010 or before earmarked for introduction.
