PHUKET AIR will launch flights from Bangkok to Gatwick from 1 July 2004. The new service will initially operate three times weekly using a Boeing 747. Economy, premium economy and business class services will be offered. Daily flights are planned within the first 12 months of operation. Pre-marketing of the new operation has ensured a strong demand due to lack of capacity on the route with a number of key tour operators developing programmes based on the new services. Phuket Air began its operation in 2001 serving two destinations in the Southern provinces of Thailand, Ranong and Phuket with Boeing 737-200 aircraft. Since then, the airline has expanded its route structure and says it will continue to add routes to cover more domestic and international destinations.
