LONDON CITY AIRPORT reports its busiest August ever, with 184,000 passengers using the facility last month. The 20% rise on August 2005 numbers also coincides with the first summer of direct Docklands Light Railway service to the airport. New routes to Milan, Stockholm, Stuttgart and Newcastle have also been credited with boosting numbers at the airport this year, and next month flights start to Madrid. The rise in passengers comes as a reported shortlist of six bidders emerged to buy the airport for as much as ”700 million from owner Dermot Desmond, who put it up for sale in May.
