PARIS is still in turmoil over the CDG roof collapse problems with Orly now the centre of controversy. ADP has applied to the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) to move 15 flights daily to the southern Paris (and better located) airport only to find that the airport is apparently already operating at the maximum number of flights allowed on noise/environmental grounds. Residents associations are suggesting demonstrations, including blocking runways, local mayors ” powerful people in France ” are threatening legal action if agreement is given. An alternative, Beauvais, 40 miles to the north, has never really caught on, and is only served by a limited number of budget services, Ryanair still a player at the airport, but dropping its London flights.
