OAG reports that at the present time the researchers at Dunstable are aware of 135 prospective airline start-ups worldwide. Of the 21 budget carriers being planned two are very promising. Nineteen full service carriers are near to actually taking off according to the experts. During the last seven days three totally new airlines have been loaded into OAG, Yakutia Air from Russia, Thai airline Nok Air and Avior from Venezuela. No airline has failed during the last week. The airline data company also says that flight changes are running at 12,000 daily, a record figure. ABTN plans to report on new airline start-ups (and failures) at the end of each month under the title of ”Hatches & Dispatches”.
