RYANAIR executives have gone on a bit of a share sale binge according to reports crossing the Irish Sea. Michael O'Leary, chief executive, last week sold ”17m worth of shares in the company just a week after saying he had no intention of reducing his stake. This reduces Mr O'Leary's shareholding in Ryanair to 5.4%, or 41m shares worth ”173.6m. O'Leary was, for once, unavailable for comment and a Ryanair spokeswoman also refused on the grounds that ”Disposals of shares by shareholders are not a matter for the company". Declan Ryan, the eldest son of Ryanair's founder Tony Ryan, has also sold 4m shares at around ”4.25 each, reducing his stake from 2.5% to 2%. http://www.ryanair.com
