Norwegian passenger traffic rose sharply in June as the airline carried more than three million passengers in a single month – a milestone for the carrier.
The airline, which announced on Wednesday new routes from Gatwick to Austin and Chicago, carried 3.05 million passengers, a 10 per cent year-on-year increase.
Norwegian’s strong passenger figures were helped by a 38 per cent year-on-year rise in long-haul traffic.
Norwegian CEO Bjørn Kjos said: “We reached several milestones this month, both in terms of passenger numbers and fleet renewal…over the past few years, our growth has been driven by our long-haul routes, and this will continue."
