NIGERIAN AIRWAYS, the state airline, has been liquidated by the recently re-elected national government who say that it intends to launch a new partnership operation with private investment. Once one of Africa”s finest carriers Nigerian Airways recent history has been one of alleged corruption and mismanagement. In less than 18 years the airline has had 12 chief executives. At one time it operated more than 20 aircraft. Nigeria is Africa's most populous nation. British Airways serves Lagos and the capital Abuja whilst Virgin Atlantic also flies to Lagos and has recently added Port Harcourt.
