Nigeria’s main airport in the capital Abuja will close for six weeks from February next year.
Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport is to carry out a major upgrade after airlines threatened to stop flying there due to safety concerns over the runway.
The Nigerian government confirmed that domestic and international flights will be diverted 100 miles away to the city of Kaduna.
Abuja airport is a one hour flight from Nigeria’s business hub Lagos.
