NEWCASTLE could soon be linked to London City Airport. Both Euromanx and Eastern Airways are known to be looking at the route, the former probably with an AVRO RJ and Eastern perhaps with the fast Saab 200. With easyJet flying into Stansted it could become the first LCY route to compete head on with a domestic budget service. Another possible destination from the east London airport is Stockholm”s own central airport of Bromma, served back in 1992 but the victim of Swedish airport politics. With Sweden now a member of the EU and Bromma open for international services, the re-introduction of the route is a distinct possibility.
