BOEING is introducing a redesigned rest room for its Next-Generation 737 commercial aircraft, which it is said is more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing for passengers and easier for airlines to maintain. A 737-700 recently delivered to China Southern Airlines is the first to carry the new loo. Reflecting passenger and airline suggestions, the lavatory features a seat and lid damper, which slows the closure of the seat and lid and prevents slamming, a gently-curved composite countertop that holds a larger stainless steel sink, and an adjustable temperature-controlled tap that can be operated with one hand.
