FLYGLOBESPAN.COM is the name of a new no-frills carrier established by the 30 year old Edinburgh based holiday company Globespan, perhaps best known for its major Canadian operation in conjunction with Air Transat. Initially operating on the Channel Express Air Operators Certificate, using Boeing 737-300 equipment, the airline will fly from Prestwick to Nice, Malaga, Palma, and Rome, and from Edinburgh to Barcelona, Nice and Malaga. Up until the present Ryanair has been the only budget carrier operating out of Glasgow Prestwick airport. None of the routes compete. Bookings have already opened and Tuesday, 1 April, has been set for the first flight.
