NEW ORLEANS is gradually gaining reasonable levels of air service following the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Delta Air Lines is adding three daily flights from Atlanta to the city on December 1. The carrier has ramped up its schedules to give New Orleans seven daily flights from its main hub. Southwest Airlines is also introducing new services to the city, starting November 12, from five of its bases, including Nashville and Dallas. Before the hurricane, New Orleans was on target to surpass its record 2004 for tourism when it had 10.1 million visitors.
