DE HAVILLAND fans will probably not need reminding but more than 40 years ago (first flight August 1962) the designers at Hatfield really got it right with the 125, now known as the Hawker 800, the world”s first, and easily the most successful, business jet with a proper stand up cabin. Current owner of the production rights, Wichita, Kansas based Raytheon, has announced an order for 20 aircraft from fractional ownership company Netjets, together with a commitment for 40 of its smaller US designed sister Hawker (the former Beechcraft 400). The jets will be based in Europe and the US and will be delivered from 2005 through 2007. To date 1,324 DH125 and its derivatives have been produced.
