MUNICH AIRPORT: Just three and a half years after the commencement of construction and two days before the start of operations Munich Airport”s new Terminal 2 was officially opened. The new terminal, which doubles Munich Airport”s current capacity to 50m passengers per year, is a joint project of the airport and Lufthansa, who will have exclusive use of the terminal building along with the Star Alliance airlines and its other partner carriers. Speaking in London Wolfgang Mayrhubber, the new chairman and chief executive of Lufthansa, said that he expected Munich to develop parallel to Frankfurt with much the same services and destinations, probably with smaller aircraft. http://www.munich-airport.de
