ALITALIA is again being plagued by strikes and prospective users should keep an eye on the airline”s website before travelling. The loss making Italian national carrier, currently under very close scrutiny from other airlines and the EU, lost 52 flights early last week due to industrial action by cabin staff members of the SULT union. The airline says it will not negotiate and continues to implement a turnaround strategy to stem huge losses totalling nearly one billion dollars last year.
