After a three year gap a meal service has returned on Austrian Airlines short haul flights just in time for the busy skiing season.
The new cabin offering is served in a specially designed presentation box where the lid is actually an oversized postcard. Write a message on the card with an address and the air crew will post it free of charge. Not only does it promote the airline but the food wrapper is also being recycled.
The meals themselves are based on traditional Austrian dishes and vary by season and time of day. Typically for breakfast you could get muesli with yogurt and a selection of cold cuts but later in the day you may be offered a special beef salad and strudel. Bread and a soft drink accompanies the ”Austrian Snack Box”.
For this coming snow season, as long as it is pre-booked, one pair of skis or one snowboard, per passenger, will be carried free of charge. This is in addition to your checked luggage allowance of 20kgs in economy class.
