Maxjet Airways, the Stansted-focussed American airline has today (30 August) introduced a non-stop four-times weekly flight from the Essex airport to Los Angeles and at the same time stepped up its very successful route to Las Vegas, also to four-times weekly. Stansted to Washington is now four-times weekly.
Speaking from the US before taking a Maxjet flight from New York to London to join the maiden service, executive vice president planning and development, Josh Marks, confirmed a load factor of 75.5% for July with traffic up 56% compared to the same period last year.
”We are very pleased with the progress that the airline is making,” he said. ”With the strength of the pound over the dollar, more traffic is originating out of the UK than the US.”
Maxjet is a low cost all business class airline. It operates five Boeing 767-200ER aircraft, each with 102 seats in a 2+2+2 configuration offering a 60” seat pitch.
Non-executive directors include Paul Kehoe, previously Luton Airport managing director and a TBI board member, and currently CEO, Bristol International Airport.
US authorisation has been requested for a non-stop service starting at Los Angeles and via Seattle/Tacoma International Airport to Shanghai, starting 25 March, 2009.
Maxjet made its inaugural flight from JFK New York to Stansted on 1 November, 2005.
