Celebrating its first anniversary on November 2, Maxjet, the US-based business class only airline, has introduced a twice-weekly 12-hour non-stop flight between Stansted and Las Vegas. Virgin Atlantic also offers a similar operation from Gatwick, started in 2001, which has grown from two services to a daily operation. From Manchester bmi is now three times per week, and features an on board chef, the only airline to offer this service in business class. Maxjet itself now also flies six days per week to New York JFK, and four times weekly to Washington.
Maxjet CEO Gary Rogliano said: ”We have been inundated with bookings for this route since sales began on September 1. The UK is the second largest market to visit Las Vegas and we are responding to customer demand for an affordable non-stop business class service from London. The addition of this new route also means that connections to and from the US west coast are now much easier.”
Maxjet points out that its business class fares start at just ”999 ($1,897) return, including all government taxes and fees, undercutting its rivals by half. All services are flown by 102-seat wide bodied Boeing 767 aircraft featuring a traditional business class seat with extended legroom and a 2 + 2 + 2 configuration. Passengers are able to use the very quick Fast Track service at Stansted and the private Maxjet lounge, which overlooks the apron.
