MANCHESTER is to be connected to Milan (Malpensa) twice daily by Alitalia according to its summer schedule just released, the first time that the airline has operated in the UK outside London in recent times. The route could be one of the first to use the new Embraer 170 regional jet, Alitalia now the lead European customer. The Italian state airline will compete with British Airways who serves Fiumicino. Also new for 2004 is Copenhagen, Luxembourg and Stockholm. BA also serves MAN ” MXP.
