Manchester airport has reported record passenger growth with rises in long-haul and European travel.
According to its monthly traffic statistics, the North West airport saw traffic grow 11.9 per cent for May, compared to the previous month.
Berlin and Hamburg were among the cities with the biggest increase in traffic.
Owners Manchester Airports Group also reported growth across its other airports – Bournemouth (4.7%), East Midlands (3.9%) and Stansted (7%).
London Stansted Airport CEO, Andrew Cowan, said: “The strong growth in passenger traffic at the start of the summer season continued in May as we welcomed nearly 2.3 million to Stansted, up 7% on 2016 and more passengers for the month than in any previous year.”
