HEATHROW”S security screening picked up a Sudanese man last Wednesday as he tried to change aircraft from a Washington flight to one to Dubai. The police said on Friday he had been charged with two offences of possession of prohibited ammunition under Britain's Firearms Act, and one charge of possessing dangerous articles on an aircraft. Earlier, a police source said the man was not a known terrorist suspect. Alwasila Alhibr Wassila, 45, spoke through an interpreter to confirm his name and age at London's Bow Street magistrates court. Wassila will next appear on 13 February. Concerns have been raised as to the quality of security at Washington Dallas Airport. In a separate incident a 44-year-old businessman from Norfolk was arrested last Friday at Stansted after security officials found him in possession of a handgun, but Essex Police say he is not being questioned under the Terrorism Act. Essex Police say the firearm looks similar to an airgun and is not able to discharge bullets. He was released on bail.
