MAASTRICHT AACHEN AIRPORT, now majority owned by UK-based regional airport company Omniport, which controls Norwich Airport in Norfolk, has gained its first ever easyJet route. Twice-daily flights to Berlin Schoenefeld will start on Wednesday 13 April 2005. The airport also serves Amsterdam with a five times daily KLM Cityhopper Fokker F50 service. The airport”s location deep in the south of Holland near the Belgian and German border offers potential for traffic to and from parts of Nordrhein-Westphalia in Germany, the Dutch provinces Limburg and Noord-Brabant (Eindhoven region) and the Belgian provinces Limburg and Li”ge. Li”ge, less than 20 miles away, also has an airport but this is primarily geared up for holiday charter flights.
