TONY DAVIS has surprisingly resigned as managing director of bmi baby and will take up the position of chief executive of Singapore-based Tiger Airways on 1 January 2005. Davis had been credited with the successful introduction of the bmi offspring in January 2002. His CV includes five years with the then British Midland and nine years with BA. Temporarily in charge of bmi baby is commercial director, David Byron. Tiger Airways was created earlier this year and is a partnership between 49% owner Singapore Airlines; Indigo Partners, an investment firm founded by former America West chairman Bill Franke (24%); Irelandia, the private investment arm of Ryanair founders Tony Ryan and his family (16%); and Singapore state-owned investment company Temasek Holdings (11%).
