LUFTHANSA is to go-ahead with plans to fit the Boeing Connexion internet facility on all its long haul aircraft following a very successful trial earlier this year. The agreement calls for the service to be fitted on Lufthansa's fleet of approximately 80 aircraft, including Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft, beginning in early 2004. The installation kit will be provided by Lufthansa Technik and will be made available to third parties. The system will probably be used first on the North Atlantic and then rolled out across the network as more aircraft and satellite facilities become available. In addition to recent service demonstrations with Lufthansa and British Airways, both Japan Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) have announced their intent to install the revolutionary service on their long-range aircraft. http://www.boeing.com/connexion
