SWISS has been bought by Lufthansa for EUR310 million ($404 million). The German carrier said the takeover would cost it EUR 101 million ($131.6 million) in a one-off hit. Lufthansa is attempting to save EUR1.2 billion ($1.56 million) by 2006 to help it compete in an increasingly tough air travel market, but said the integration of Swiss into its business would not cause further expense in the future.
