The Lufthansa Group and Singapore Airlines have expanded their long-standing partnership, which will now include Lufthansa subsidiary Brussels Airlines.
The joint venture – which encompasses commercial cooperation and codeshare agreements on “key routes” between the Asia-Pacific region (Singapore, Malaysia and Australia) and Europe – was first established in 2015 between to two flag carriers as well as Lufthansa subsidiaries Austrian Airlines and SWISS.
With the integration of Brussels Airlines, the agreement will offer customers “more choice and smoother connectivity”, according to the airlines. From 26 October, Brussels Airlines' SN code will be added to Singapore Airlines flights operating between Singapore and the EU capital.
Lufthansa Group vice president Asia Pacific and joint ventures East, Felipe Bonifatti said the expanded agreement “underlines our commitment to offering customers in APAC greater choice and seamless connectivity across Europe”, adding that it also paves the way for additional subsidiaries to join the partnership.
This move follows Lufthansa's recent removal of its Light fares on routes jointly operated with Singapore Airlines from GDS EDIFACT platforms.
