LUFTHANSA has confirmed that after 35 years with the airline J”rgen Weber, chairman and CEO, is to retire. His successor is, Wolfgang Mayrhuber (lef), currently deputy chairman of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG. The change at the helm of the aviation group will take place at the next Annual General Meeting, on 18 June 2003, in Cologne. Mr Mayrhuber will address the Aviation Club at the Institute of Directors in London on 3 July 2003. Wolfgang Mayrhuber is a born and bred ”Lufthanseat” with 30 years of service with the Group. Born in Austria, Herr Mayrhuber studied mechanical engineering at the Technical College in Steyr/Austria and at the Bloor Institute in Canada. In autumn 1990, he completed an executive management training course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston.
