CATHAY PACIFIC is getting ready to promote its London ” Sydney operation following conformation that the airline is to go three times daily between Hong Kong and the capital of New South Wales from the beginning of the winter season. The airline already has three departures from Heathrow at 1305, 1805 and 2235, the first two operated by Boeing 747s in just under 12 hours nominal timing and the last of the day by the slightly slower Airbus A340. The lunchtime LHR departure gives for just one hour on the ground at HKG followed by a nine-hour flight south. The scheduled arrival is 2110 the following day with a total travelling time of just 22 hours. For the return the out of Sydney the 1500 departure gives the best connection with once again only a little over one hour on the ground at HKG. You get back into London very early the next morning local time.
