LE COCQS AIRLINK may possibly be Britain”s smallest scheduled airline (let them argue with Highland) but it is certainly one of the fastest expanding. Founded in January 2002 the airline had originally been set up by Le Cocqs store, Alderney”s largest supermarket, by Tesco standards' a ”mini-market”, to ferry fresh fruit and vegetables to the island. Soon the store”s regulars were asking if they too could use the aircraft. Bournemouth ” Alderney was the first route followed last October by Bournemouth ” Jersey and the same mainland getaway to Guernsey this spring. Now the airline will take take the bull by the horns by introducing a Jersey ” Alderney service 11 July, in competition with the long established operator, Aurigny. Jersey - Guernsey has been applied for. Originally a single BN Islander operator Le Cocqs now has two of the ubiquitous machines plus an BN Trislander for the busier routes. http://www.lecocqs.com
