NEW YORK”S Kennedy Airport finally has a new terminal for American Airlines. Work started back in 1999. The $1.1bn, building has been officially dedicated by City mayor Michael Bloomberg (left)with the help of American chairman and CEO Gerard Arpey. American serves 8.5m passengers a year at JFK and the airline said the new terminal will be the largest JFK terminal housing a single airline, with the capacity to handle 12.8m passengers annually. The project is one of several major works at the airport, considered by many not as user friendly or convenient for Manhatten as Newark, the most important being the completion of the AirTrain service connecting JFK with New York”s public transport system.
