CHILDREN may not read ABTN but their parents do. KLM is to introduce this week its Junior Jet Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport employing child minders to entertain children between the ages of 5 and 12 travelling with their parents. The younger set will draw and play with Lego under the supervision of KLM staff, while the older children will have access to computer games and video films. This new, paid service, jointly initiated by KLM and the airport, is not just open to KLM passengers, but to all those travelling with children aged 5 to 12. The new service will give parents an opportunity to visit the airport shops, restaurants and even the casino whilst waiting for, or changing flights. Another advantage is that children will no longer have to accompany their parents when they go shopping at the See Buy Fly mall. The Junior Jet Lounge will be available for the duration of the summer. If it proves popular, it will become a permanent fixture at Amsterdam Schiphol. The service will cost E15 per child staying less than two hours, and E25 per child staying longer than two hours.
