JOHN LENNON AIRPORT, the somewhat controversially re-named Speke
Liverpool Airport, is to gain daily services to Newark New York next
summer. FlyGlobespan, the rapidly expanding Edinburgh-based carrier,
and a spin-off from the long established tour operator of the same
name, is to introduce daily Boeing 757 flights on 25 May 2007. The
aircraft will have a two-class layout, the premium area two-plus-two,
an upgraded meal service, dedicated priority check-in and the use of
the airport executive lounge. This will be the first ever long haul
operation to and from Liverpool and is expected to gain a high profile
in the ”Big Apple”. John Lennon”s widow Yoko Ono is supporting the
service and wished it well.
