BLACKPOOL has a new airline tenant. Jet2.com, the low cost offspring of cargo airline Channel Express, is to become the first budget carrier to be based at the Lancashire airport.
Belfast starts with a four times weekly service on 4 November, followed in April 2006 by Palma (Majorca), and Murcia (mainland Spain).
A 148-seat Boeing 737-300 will be used for all services.
Blackpool Airport believes that the new services will not only attract passengers bound for the Mediterranean but will also help introduce it as the gateway to the resort and the Lake District.
Let us hope that Jet2 does not give its passengers the same sort of ride as the Big Dipper in our photo background.
